Clary J. Foote 2020-04-15

Orthopaedic Resident/Intern - Canada

Reviewed the report. I initially thought to myself; this is the last type of research I would (maybe could) conduct as it doesn't play to my strengths. The second thought was how in the world did you generate this so expeditiously. Lastly, it is terrific. In conduction with the American College of Surgeons report and the JOT, this will be quite valuable for surgeons. Protective measures in the OR still need to be refined. Also, a thought I had was about viral load and surgery. I was in a discussion group tonight that said positive patients had a very bumpy postoperative course. I'm wondering if the viral load is ballooning, putting these patients at risk. I'm wondering if, in the recommendations, you could collaborate with one of the infectious disease specialists or a virologist to see if this may be a clinical context for antiretroviral treatment—just a hypothesis.
