56 patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty were randomized to one of two groups. One group underwent preoperative 3D computed tomography (CT) planning with intraoperative referencing (3D Planning-Assisted group) for placement of the acetabular cup while the other group underwent freehand placement of the cup (Freehand group).
