100 patients with primary osteoarthritis who were scheduled to undergo unilateral cemented total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive either placebo or intravenous tranexamic acid 10 minutes prior to surgery, 3 hours after surgery, and orally for 5 days after surgery.
