Synopsis

This meta-analysis included 10 randomized controlled trials comparing recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) and iliac crest bone graft (ICBG) in patients receiving lumbar fusion. The results from the analysis indicated that the rate of fusion failure was significantly lower in the rhBMP-2 group than in the ICBG group at 6, 12, and 24 months.
