Synopsis
40 patients with primary acute patellar dislocations were randomized to receive treatment via either surgical stabilization or non-surgical treatment using a patellar orthosis. At a median of 7 year follow-up, there was a significantly reduced rate of re-dislocation and few subluxations in the surgical intervention group, indicating an increase in stability.
