Synopsis
31 patients who had undergone open reduction and internal fixation for an extraarticular, supracondylar distal femur fracture were randomized to either immediate weight-bearing as tolerated (WBAT) or a period of touch down weight-bearing (TDWB). Patients were assessed for the incidence of either catastrophic failure within 3 months or nonuion. Results demonstrated only one case of hardware failure...
