Synopsis
234 patients scheduled for total joint arthroplasty were randomized to undergo the procedure using tranexamic acid (TXA) administration, a retransfusion drain, or a standard Hemovac drain. The purpose the study was to compare transfusion incidence and haemoglobin drop following surgery. No significant difference in transfusion rate was observed between the three groups.
