Synopsis
36 patients who were scheduled to undergo primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) were randomized to receive either directed air flow, directed airflow system present but turned off, or control (no device). The results of the study indicated that patients who received directed air flow displayed significantly less bacterial counts in comparison to the two other groups.
