The Role of Subacromial Decompression in Patients Undergoing Arthroscopic Repair of Full-Thickness Tears of the Rotator Cuff: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Arthroscopy. 2012 May;28(5):720-7. Epub 2012 Feb 2.This meta-analysis identified four Level 1 randomized controlled trials that compared subacromial decompression to no subacromial decompression, when treating those undergoing repair for rotator cuff tears. A total of 373 patients were identified in this study (n=226 men). However, at the complete follow up only 217 patients had full follow-up data. Results from this analysis showed no significant difference with respect to subjective outcome measures between those who received SAD concomitantly with rotator cuff surgery compared to those with no SAD.
