Synopsis

Eighty patients with intertrochanteric fractures and sufficient Vitamin D levels were randomized to receive a single 300,000 IU intramuscular Vitamin D injection (n=40) or a placebo (n=40) prior to surgery. The primary outcome was the 6-month mortality rate, and secondary outcomes included 1-year and 2-year mortality rates and Harris Hip Scores (HHS) at 6, 12, and 24 months post-surgery. Overall, ...
