Synopsis
200 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either an inflatable tourniquet (n=100) or controlled hypotension (n=100). Outcomes of interest were total blood loss, coagulation function, levels of inflammatory mediators, knee joint function, penetration thickness of bone cement around the tibial prosthesis, and cognitive function.
