Synopsis
60 patients undergoing degenerative lumbar spine surgery were randomized to receive either a footbath (n=30) or standard of care (n=30). Outcomes of interest included pain and sleep quality after 1 postoperative day on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Pain severity was similar between the groups, whereas sleep quality was significantly better in the footbath group.
