Synopsis

Three studies including 231 patients with knee osteoarthritis were included in the meta-analysis comparing hip abductor strengthening exercises to control (other physical therapy; no treatment). Pooled outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) scores, with a follow-up range of 2 and 13 weeks.
