Synopsis

24 studies with 494 participants were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing virtual surgical simulator training to control for the improvement of surgical skill acquisition. Results of the meta-analysis revealed significantly greater pooled time-to-task completion in the virtual simulator group, as well as a greater improvement in objective performance scores.
