Hip fractures are common in the elderly, and almost always require surgery. Substantial pain is associated with hip fractures, and can lead to confusion and delirium. In this pilot trial, the authors randomized 73 participants in a 2:1 ratio to femoral nerve block (FNB) versus control. This pilot trial demonstrated efficacy for a future definitive randomized controlled trial.
