Synopsis
40 patients with grade II-III avascular necrosis of the femoral head were randomized to core decompression with or without the addition of intraarticular stem cell injections. Patients were assessed after 12 and 24 months for outcome on the Oxford Hip Score and Harris Hip Score measures. Within-group improvement for both groups was significant for each of the OHS and HHS.
