Synopsis

Sixteen studies were included in this meta-analysis, which compared the effect of intra-articular tranexamic acid to placebo for outcomes related to blood loss, transfusion rate, and adverse events. Pooled analyses demonstrated significant differences in favour of IA-TXA for all efficacy outcomes, including total blood loss, postoperative blood loss, transfusion rate, and hemoglobin drop.
