A comparison between robotic-assisted and manual implantation of cementless total hip arthroplasty
Clin Orthop Relat Res. 2010 Apr;468(4):1072-81. Epub 2009 Nov 5.146 patients (age range 47-67 yr) scheduled for primary cementless THAs were randomized to the rasping method for femoral stem implantation either by the robotic assisted method or the conventional hand rasping technique. At 5 year follow up the Robot-assisted primary THA resulted in lesser variance in the limb-length inequality and lesser stress shielding of the proximal femur 5 years postoperatively, the JOA scores were comparable between the groups.
