40 subjects, 20 with chronic ankle instability (CAI) and 20 with healthy ankles, were randomized into 4 groups; exercise training in both healthy and CAI subjects and control groups in both healthy and CIA subjects. This study assessed if exercise resistance training would lead to improvements in balance. Following the training program there was an improvement in balance in both of the exercise training groups, as determined by a reduction in distance traveled by the center of pressure. These improvements were retained at a 4 week follow-up.
