OE Journal. 2013;1(12):101 J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2012 Jan 4;94(1):2-864 patients presenting with osteoarthritis of the ankle were randomized to treatment receiving a single intra-articular injection with low molecular weight, non-cross linked hyaluronic acid or saline solution. The results measured at 16 weeks indicated that the hyaluronic acid treatment provided a significant reduction in American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) score when compared to base line measures. A similar difference was not seen in the control group;however, there were no significant differences observed between the two groups for any measure throughout the study.
