Robotic assisted versus conventional total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

Nine randomized controlled trials including patients with knee osteoarthritis undergoing total knee arthroplasty were analyzed. The comparison focused on robotic-assisted versus conventional TKA, with pooled outcomes including mechanical alignment, range of motion, patient-reported outcomes (WOMAC scores), and rates of alignment outliers. Robotic-assisted TKA demonstrated superior outcomes in mechanical alignment, WOMAC scores, and reduction in alignment outliers but required longer operative time. Conventional TKA showed better long-term range of motion in flexion. These findings suggest that robotic-assisted TKA may enhance surgical precision and certain patient-reported outcomes, but its long-term benefits and cost-effectiveness remain uncertain.
