Pure Versus Leukocyte Platelet-Rich Plasma Intra-Articular Injections for Knee Cartilage Lesions .
Clinical Efficacy of Intra-Articular Injection with P-PRP Versus that of L-PRP in Treating Knee Cartilage Lesion: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Orthop Surg. 2023 Mar; 15(3): 740–749.Sixty patients with knee cartilage lesions were randomized to receive either an intra-articular injection with pure platelet-rich plasma (P-PRP; n=30) or with leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma (L-PRP; n=30). Outcomes of interest included Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) pain, stiffness, and function as well as pain at rest and with movement measured on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). WOMAC pain and VAS pain during movement at 6 weeks were significantly better in the P-PRP group. All other outcomes were similar between the two groups at all time points.
