研究概要

A prospective, within-patient study examined the effects of psilocybin on arterial spin labelling (ASL) and blood-oxygen level dependent (BOLD) fMRI, as well as subjective ratings of drug effects. Each patient was scanned prior to drug administration, and after an intravenous infusion of 2 mg of psilocybin. Fifteen patients were scanned using ASL and fifteen using BOLD. Patients reported profound changes in subjective evaluations of drug effects. ASL and BOLD showed only decreases in cerebral blood flow after psilocybin administration, with no areas of increased activity. The major areas seeing decreases were the thalamus, anterior and posterior cingulate cortex and medial prefrontal cortex.
