Manipulative Therapy for Patients with Chronic Neck Pain: A Meta-Analysis of RCTS .
A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of manipulative therapy for patients with chronic neck pain.
Complement Ther Clin Pract. 2023 Aug;52:101751.17 studies including a total of 1,190 patients were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis assessing the effectiveness of manipulation therapy for chronic neck pain. Outcomes of interest included pain intensity and neck disability (assessed with the Neck Disability Index [NDI]). The results of the meta-analysis found that manipulative therapy, with or without exercise, resulted in significantly lower pain intensity and disability than controls. There was no significant difference in the risk of adverse events between the two groups. The results of this study suggest that manipulation therapy is an effective intervention for the treatment of chronic neck pain.
