Ketorolac plus Lidocaine vs Lidocaine for pain relief following core needle soft tissue biopsy: A CONSORT-compliant double-blind randomized controlled study
Medicine (Baltimore). 2021 Feb 19;100(7): e24721.One hundred and twenty-eight patients with musculoskeletal tumours and scheduled for a core needle biopsy were randomized to receive a pre-biopsy injection of 10 mL 2% lidocaine plus adrenaline (n=64) or 10 mL 2% lidocaine plus adrenaline plus 30 mg of ketorolac (n=64) for the relief of post-procedural pain. The outcome of interest was pain severity after injection evaluated on a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at 1, 6, 12, 24, 48, and 60-72 hours post-injection. Results revealed VAS pain scores to be statistically significantly lower in the ketorolac group compared to the control group at all time points up to 48 hours post-injection (p<0.05 for all).
