OE Journal. 2013;1(12):3 J Bone Joint Surg Br. 2010 Jun;92(6):862-632 patients scheduled to undergo a total knee replacement (TKR) were randomized to the surgical approach of either standard medial parapatellar or the lateral sub-vastus approach with osteotomy. The TKR done with the both medial parapatellar approach and the lateral subvastus approach with osteotomy yielded similar clinical and functional outcomes. Both methods lead to decreases in pain and increased degree of flexion and improved overall function.
