Individualized Homeopathic Medicines for Low Back Pain in Lumbar Spondylosis: Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial.

Forty-nine patients with lumbar spondylosis were randomized to receive either individualized homeopathic medicines (IHMs; n=26) or placebo (n=23). The primary outcome was the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) for low back pain and disability. Secondary outcomes included the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) and the short form of the McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ). Outcomes were assessed monthly for three months. Overall, the results showed no statistically significant differences between the IHMs and placebo groups for the primary outcome. However, some secondary outcomes, such as SF-MPQ subscales, indicated minor benefits for the IHMs group at certain time points. The findings suggest that while IHMs did not significantly outperform placebo in the primary measures, they showed some effect in secondary measures, warranting further research.
