Home-based exercise program and Health education in patients with patellofemoral pain: a randomized controlled trial.
BMC Musculoskelet Disord . 2023 Nov 18;24(1):896.38 patients with patellofemoral pain were randomized to receive either a six-week home-based exercise program + education (n=19) or control (education only; n=19). Outcomes of interest included worst pain and activities of daily living pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Anterior Knee Pain Scale (AKPS), knee extension, and knee flexion after 6 weeks. There were no between-group differences at 6 weeks for all outcomes, however, change from baseline scores for all outcomes except knee flexion were significantly better in the home-exercise group compared to control. Within-group improvements from baseline were significant in all outcomes except for knee flexion in the home-exercise group and only in WAS worst pain scores in the control group.
