Multidimensional Physiotherapy For Non-Specific Chronic Low Back Pain .
Effect of multidimensional physiotherapy on non-specific chronic low back pain: a randomized controlled trial.
Adv Rheumatol . 2023 Dec 4;63(1):57.Seventy patients with non-specific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP) were randomized to receive either multidimensional physiotherapy (n=35) or usual physiotherapy (n=35). The primary outcome of interest was pain intensity, measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Secondary outcomes included Oxford Disability Index (ODI), Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK), Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), Fear Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ), and range of motion (ROM). Outcomes were assessed at pre-treatment, 6, 10, and 22 weeks. Overall, the results of the study revealed that multidimensional physiotherapy resulted in significantly greater pain reduction at 10 and 22 weeks compared to usual physiotherapy. Similarly, TSK scores and SF-36 scores were significantly better in the multidimensional physiotherapy group. There were no significant differences in all other secondary outcomes between the groups. These findings suggest that multidimensional physiotherapy is more effective for long-term pain reduction and kinesiophobia in NSCLBP patients.
