Six studies (168 patients) were included in this meta-analysis comparing motor imagery and physical therapy to physical therapy alone. Pooled outcomes of interest included knee strength, pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and function measured with the timed up and go test and the Oxford Knee Score (OKS). Results found the addition of motor imagery to physical therapy resulted in significantly greater pain reduction, better knee strength, and greater mobility vs. physical therapy alone.
