Effect Modifiers of Graded Sensorimotor Retraining for Chronic Low Back Pain: A Secondary Analysis of the RESOLVE Randomized Trial.

276 patients with chronic non-specific low back pain were randomized to receive graded sensorimotor retraining or sham control with attention procedures. The primary outcomes of interest were pain intensity (NRS) and disability (RMDQ). Secondary analyses examined potential treatment effect modifiers including pain, disability, psychosocial variables, and back perception. Outcomes were assessed at 18 and 52 weeks. Overall, the results of the study revealed limited evidence of meaningful treatment effect modifiers, with most baseline characteristics not influencing outcomes. These findings suggest that graded sensorimotor retraining provides similar benefits across patient subgroups, regardless of baseline characteristics.
