Prospective, randomized, multicenter study with 2-year follow-up to compare the performance of decompression with and without interlaminar stabilization

254 patients with symptomatic lumbar spinal stenosis were randomized to undergo decompression with or without interlaminar stabilization with the coflex ILS device (Paradigm Spine). The primary outcome was a composite endpoint of clinical success over a 2-year follow-up. Results demonstrated a significantly higher rate of attaining the composite endpoint for clinical success in the group which received interlaminar stabilization compared to the group that did not. No significant differences in the incidences of device- or procedure-related adverse events were documented between groups.
