Computer-Navigated Surgery in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: Are Radiographic Outcomes Better Than Conventional Surgery?
Arthroscopy. 2011 Jan;27(1):97-100. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2010.05.012. Epub 2010 Oct 15.5 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-RCTs were included in this meta-analysis/systematic review to compare computer-navigated anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction to conventional surgery. The results of this study suggest that the risk of impingement may be reduced when using computer-navigation compared to conventional surgery and placement of the graft is similar or improved compared to conventional surgery. However, further high-quality evidence is needed to determine if there is a superior treatment option and which treatment is more cost effective.
