2013 COA Annual Meeting: A randomized clinical trial examining clinical function of cemented versus cementless femoral component hip resurfacing

120 patients undergoing hip resurfacing were randomized to receive either a cemented or cementless femoral component in order to evaluate the effects of these two femoral component types on functional outcomes, adverse events and complications. Results indicated no significant difference between groups in any functional outcome at any time point throughout the 2 year study. There were more revision surgeries reported in the cemented group (n=3), while no patients in the cementless group underwent revision surgery.
