2024 COA Annual Meeting: Clinical, Functional and Radiological Outcomes of Robotic-Assisted Versus Conventional Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Eight studies with 722 hip osteoarthritis patients were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing robotic-assisted THA versus conventional THA. Pooled outcomes of interest included rates of major complications, revision, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) such as pain, walking, and daily function, and radiological accuracy. The analysis found no significant difference between robotic-assisted THA and conventional THA in terms of major complications, revision rates, and PROMs, although robotic-assisted THA did show a lower leg length discrepancy. The main findings suggest that robotic-assisted THA does not provide clinically meaningful improvements over conventional THA in the evaluated outcomes.
