Cost-effectiveness of Single Row versus Double Row Constructs in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair
90 patients scheduled to undergo arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were randomized to received either single row or double row constructs. The purpose of this study was to compare the cost-effectiveness of the two aforementioned treatments over 2-year follow-up. Findings indicated a higher case cost in the double row repair, but also higher quality adjusted life years (QALY) compared to the single row repair. Double row repair was considered to be cost-effective compared to single row repair with the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) situated within the willingness to pay threshold of $50,000 per QALY gained, and even more cost-effective for patients with tears larger than 3cm.
