Effect of Bone Marrow Stimulation on Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Six randomized controlled trials involving 522 patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing rotator cuff repair with bone marrow stimulation (BMS) versus conventional rotator cuff repair. Pooled outcomes of interest included retear rates and functional outcomes as measured by Constant, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) scores. The combined analysis showed no significant differences in retear rates or functional outcomes between groups. These findings suggest that the addition of BMS to arthroscopic RCR does not confer additional benefits in terms of reducing retear rates or improving functional outcomes at short-term follow-up.
