Effectiveness of nursing intervention in the operating room to prevent wound infections in patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery: A meta-analysis.
Int Wound J . 2023 Dec;20(10):4103-4111.This systematic review and meta-analysis included 29 studies involving 3567 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. It compared the effectiveness of operating room nursing interventions versus standard care in preventing surgical site wound infections. Pooled outcomes of interest included the incidence rates of surgical site infections. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in the incidence of infections in the intervention group compared to the control group. This suggests that operating room nursing interventions are effective in reducing postoperative infections. These findings highlight the potential of targeted nursing interventions in improving surgical outcomes in orthopedic settings.
