Part 2: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Cemented Versus Uncemented Hemiarthroplasty for Displaced Femoral Neck Fracture – Operative Outcomes and Patient-Reported Outcomes .

The second part of this systematic review and meta-analysis looked beyond mortality to compare operative and patient-reported outcomes for cemented vs. uncemented hemiarthroplasty in displaced femoral neck fractures. Across the RCTs that reported these measures, the two techniques performed similarly in blood loss, length of stay, early pain, and longer-term function. The only consistent difference was operative time—uncemented stems were implanted about 10 minutes faster. When combined with Part 1 findings, the picture becomes clearer: cemented HA offers meaningful advantages in reducing 1-year mortality and periprosthetic fractures, while overall recovery, pain, and functional improvement appear comparable. More high-quality RCTs focusing on patient-centered outcomes are still needed.
