Highlights from OTA 2023

This OE Insight reviews 23 high-impact RCTs and meta-analyses presented at OTA 2023, spanning fracture fixation, perioperative protocols, and pain management. Key findings include lower knee pain with suprapatellar nailing, reduced infection risk with conservative transfusion strategies, and greater satisfaction with anti-gravity treadmill therapy. While TXA showed mixed results, novel comparisons—like RIA vs. iliac crest grafts and pain coaching—reflect a shift toward patient-centered, evidence-based orthopaedic trauma care.
