5 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 250 patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing virtual reality (VR)-assisted physiotherapy with traditional physiotherapy. Pooled outcomes included pain intensity, physical function, and balance. VR-assisted physiotherapy significantly reduced pain and improved physical function and balance compared with conventional rehabilitation. These findings suggested that VR-assisted physiotherapy could provide an effective alternative or adjunct to traditional rehabilitation for improving short-term clinical outcomes in patients with KOA.
