Ultrasound-guided versus computed tomography-controlled periradicular injections in the middle and lower cervical spine: a prospective randomized clinical trial
Eur Spine J. 2013 Nov;22(11):2532-740 patients, over the age of 18 years, with subacute to chronic radiculopathy of the middle or lower cervical spine were randomly assigned to compare the effect of ultrasound guided periradicular injection versus computed tomography (CT)-controlled intervention for the treatment of cervical radiculopathy in terms of safety, pain relief, accuracy, time saving, and radiation dose 4 weeks after intervention. The results of the study indicated that ultrasound-guided periradicular injections more accurately guide injections, significantly reduce procedure time and radiation dose, and effectively treat patients with cervical radiculopathy.
