Ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca compartment block for pain control in total hip arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Medicine (Baltimore) . 2023 Nov 24;102(47):e36145.Eight randomized controlled trials (656 patients) comparing an ultrasound-guided fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) against a quadratus lumborum block (QLB) for total hip arthroplasty were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included pain at rest and with movement on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and opioid consumption. All outcomes were similar between the two groups except for opioid consumption, which was significantly lower in the FICB group at 24 hours post-surgery.
