Comparison of efficacy between tranexamic acid and epsilon-aminocaproic acid for total knee arthroplasty: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Medicine (Baltimore) . 2023 Nov 24;102(47):e33876.Six randomized controlled trials (739 patients) comparing tranexamic acid (TXA) against epsilon-aminocaproic acid (EACA) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included the incidence of transfusion, decrease in hemoglobin, total blood loss, intraoperative blood loss, operative time, tourniquet time, and the incidence of deep vein thrombosis. All outcomes were comparable between the two treatment groups with the exception of total blood loss which was significantly lower in the TXA group.
