One hundred and twenty patients with limb trauma were randomized to receive 3 days of topical sesame oil application (twice daily) to the trauma site (n=60) or placebo (n=60). The outcomes of interest included pain severity on a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and analgesic consumption. The sesame oil group demonstrated significantly lower analgesic consumption, however, there were no observed differences in pain scores between the two groups up to the time of the last application.
