Risk of deep venous thrombosis in drain clamping with tranexamic acid and carbazochrome sodium sulfonate hydrate in total knee arthroplasty

100 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to undergo drainage-clamping with either tranexamic acid and carbazovhrome sodium sulfonate hydrate, or saline control to assess the risk associated with post-operative hemostasis. The post-operative drained blood was significantly reduced in the intervention group,when compared to the controls. This finding was accompanied with a similar occurrence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), indicating that the intervention group was at a similar risk of DVT complication while reducing blood loss.
