The WHiTE 5 Trial: Cemented vs. Uncemented Hemiarthroplasty for Intracapsular Hip Fracture .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
Cemented or Uncemented Hemiarthroplasty for Intracapsular Hip Fracture
N Engl J Med. 2022 Feb 10;386(6): 521-530.1225 elderly patients with displaced intracapsular hip fractures were included in this multicentered, randomized controlled trial comparing cemented hemiarthroplasty and uncemented hemiarthroplasty. The primary outcome of interest was health-related quality of life at 4 months, measured with the EuroQol 5-Dimension 5-Level (EQ-5D-5L) instrument. Secondary outcomes of interest included EQ-5D scores at 1 and 12 months, the incidence of complications, mobility status, and residential status on hospital discharge. The results revealed significantly better health-related quality of life at 4 months in the cemented hemiarthroplasty group. Moreover, the odds of periprosthetic fracture was significantly higher in the uncemented hemiarthroplasty group.
