The efficacy and safety of duloxetine for the treatment of patients after TKA or THA: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Medicine (Baltimore) . 2023 Aug 25;102(34):e34895.8 randomized controlled trials (739 patients) comparing the use of duloxetine or placebo in patients undergoing either total knee or hip arthroplasty (TKA & THA, respectively) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included opioid consumption, pain during rest and during walking on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), pain on a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), the incidence of any complications, and the incidence of adverse events. Opioid consumption at all time points, walking and resting VAS at 24 hours and 1 week, and the incidence of complications favored the duloxetine group. KOOS at 6 months favored the control group. All other outcomes were similar between the two groups.
