A long term follow-up for a randomised trial of total hip arthroplasty versus hemiarthroplasty for displaced intracapsular fractures.
Injury . 2023 Aug;54(8):110925.105 patients with a displaced intracapsular femoral fracture were randomized to undergo either hip arthroplasty (n=52) or hemiarthroplasty (n=53). Outcomes of interest included operative time, total blood loss, hip pain scores, mobility scale, and social dependency score, and the incidence of adverse events. There were no significant differences in all outcomes except for operative time, total blood loss, and adverse events which were significantly lower in the hemiarthroplasty group.
