Does Suture Technique Affect Re-Rupture in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair? A Meta-analysis

13 studies analyzing full-thickness rotator cuff tears were included in this meta-analysis. The purpose was to determine how repair method, suture configuration, and tear size effect rotator cuff rerupture rate. The results indicated that in single-row repair of tears measuring less than 3cm, no significant difference was noted in rerupture rates between modified Mason-Allen sutures and simple sutures, nor in tears above 3cm between mattress sutures and simple sutures. In double-row repair of tears either below or above 3cm, no significant differences were found between 2 rows of anchors or suture bridge techniques in terms of rerupture rates.
